With summer approaching along with the peak holiday season, it so important to remember to protect skin from sun damage.
There is little point in spending in money on botox and fillers if you don’t take preventive measures when it comes to protecting skin from the sun.
Research shows that more than 75% of the signs of ageing skin – wrinkles, sagging, age spots and at worst skin cancer- come from over exposure to the sun. Much of the damage to skin will have been done due to sun exposure prior to the age of 18. But you can still act to prevent further damage now.
UV rays are the main culprit for ageing skin. I recommend to my patients that they wear sunscreen with a minimum SPF factor of 30 on a daily basis. Don’t just protect your face. Ears, lips, hands and décolletage can all be unwittingly exposed to UV rays.
So for the sake of your health (as well as your looks), get into the habit of wearing sunscreen whenever your skin is exposed, particularly in the summer .
